2025 Perth Junior Chess League

The Perth Junior Chess League is a series of chess tournaments for children run on most Sunday afternoons of the school term at Perth Modern School.

These events are all organised and run by Lakner Chess. 

Each event is run under the following format:

LOCATION: Perth Modern School, 90 Roberts Road, Subiaco WA 6008.

                         Parsons Building, Lecture Theatre.

TIME: 12:30pm – 5:20pm.

COST: $33.00 per event.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to anyone under the age of 18.

FORMAT:  7 Round Swiss. 12 minutes on the clock + 3 second increment.

SCHEDULE: Participants should arrive at 12:30pm for check-in.
                         The event concludes at approximately 5:20pm.

Introductions - 12:50pm                                          Round 6 - 3:55pm

Round 1 - 1:00pm                                                        Round 7 - 4:30pm

Round 2 - 1:35pm                                                        Prize Giving - 5:10pm

Round 3 - 2:10pm                                                        Finish - 5:20pm

PRIZES: Trophies for 1st in each division. Medals for 2nd and 3rd in each division.
                 Divisions will be assigned by Lakner Chess ratings, dependent on entries.

New Feature: Novice players will only play against other Novice players!

The Novice Division will be run as a separate tournament in parallel with the main tournament.

Participants in the bottom third of rated players will be given the option of participating in the Novice 

Division at check-in. The Advanced and Intermediate Divisions will be combined.
